1. From what material is the PerfectGreen™ cookware made?
The pans are constructed from 18/10 surgical grade stainless steel with 9H Duralon™ ceramic coating.
2. What is Duralon™ coating?
Duralon™ is a natural and safe ceramic material that is long lasting and eco-friendly because it contains no PTFE, PFOA, Cadmium or BPA*. The coating is highly durable, registering a 9H grade compared to ordinary Teflon coatings which rate between 2-3H grade. For reference, consider that a diamond is 10H grade. When using natural ceramic, there are no chemical reactions during the production process. This also means there are no harmful chemicals used in our Duralon™ non-stick coating which makes it healthier. Even if you accidentally overheat your pan, no toxic
fumes will be released which can be especially dangerous to small animals. In addition, the coating itself will not blister or peel.
3. How is Duralon™ coating non-stick? Can it peel or chip like Teflon?
Traditional non-stick pans, such as those featuring Teflon, can quickly begin to degrade. The peeling and flaking which ensues can allow toxins to seep into your food. The PerfectGreen™ pan’s Duralon™ coating all but eliminates this hazard. The coating is applied twice during the production process, which makes it more durable.
4. What is impact bonding?
Impact bonding is the process by which the PerfectGreen™ pan is constructed. The process makes the pan strong, long lasting and contributes to its even heat distribution during the cooking process. Impact bonding makes the pan a great option for induction cooktops, and sturdy enough to withstand over 5,000,000 lbs of pressure.
5. What is PFOA-PTFE and how can it be harmful to me?
PFOA is a chemical that is used in the manufacturing of traditional PTFE-based non-stick cookware coatings and other products. PFOA is a carcinogen and has been found in normal climates, and can damage the environment and risk your health. We at Hearthware want to help eliminate product content of PFOA. Our Duralon™ coating is made without this chemical. PTFE is a chemical found in certain non-stick coatings. PTFE can begin to degrade at temperatures over 500ºF. With our Duralon™ coating, NO PTFE will be released, even if you accidently overheat your pan. In addition, the coating itself will not blister or peel. Our coating can resist higher temperatures than many of our competitors, so there is less risk of damage.
6. What are the dimensions of the PerfectGreen™ cookware?
Hearthware is proud to offer 9-inch, 10.5-inch and 11.5-inch fry pans. We also have a 1.5 quart saucepan, 2 quart saucepan, 3 quart saucepan, 3.5 quart stock pot and 7.5 quart stock pot.
7. Do I need oils in order for the pans to be non-stick?
The PerfectGreen™ pans do not require additional oils, butter or margarine in order to maintain their non-stick properties. However, you are free to use them according to the taste preferences of you and your family.
8. How do you “season” the PerfectGreen™ cookware?
Before first use, wash the pan then lightly rub cooking oil onto the surface and set it on medium heat for 1-3 minutes. When the pan cools to room temperature, sponge it with warm soapy water and rinse clean. Keep in mind, discoloration and small surface markings may appear with use. This will not affect the quality or performance of the pan.
9. Is PerfectGreen™ cookware oven safe?
The PerfectGreen™ pans are oven safe and can withstand temperatures up to 942ºF for short periods of time, although the recommended temperature should not exceed 480ºF.
10. Is PerfectGreen™ cookware induction ready?
The PerfectGreen™ pans are highly effective when used with induction-ready cooktops.
11. My pan is not the same color as when I first purchased it. Is this normal?
Discoloration and small surface markings may appear with use. This will not affect the quality or performance of the pan.
12. What types of utensils can I use with the PerfectGreen™ cookware?
Do not use steel wool or any other abrasive materials that may scratch the surface of your pan. Use plastic or wooden utensils while cooking. Metal whisks, mashers and/or sharp knifes will cause damage. Never attempt to cut foods while they are in the pan. Any misuse will void the warranty
13. Is PerfectGreen™ cookware dishwasher safe?
PerfectGreen™ pans are NOT dishwasher safe. Hand wash only. Most dishwasher detergents can damage the surface. Use warm soapy water with a soft sponge or dishcloth to clean, then rinse and dry. You can also simply wipe with a damp paper towel.
14. How long will my PerfectGreen™ cookware last?
PerfectGreen™ pans may be the only non-stick cookware you’ll ever need! The pans come with a 10-year limited warranty.
15. Is the PerfectGreen™ cookware safe to use around my birds?
